A Glorious Funeral

I recently shared this with a friend and decided to share it with you guys as well through our Psalm 22 newsletter:

What I’ve come to realize is that the Christian life is a lot easier than we make it. I’m not speaking of persecution, struggles and suffering, but our actual walk with Christ.

My favorite verse in Scripture is 2 Corinthians 5:17. It says, ”Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

The old Scott was a slave to sin. Now, the old Scott is dead! I’m serious. Read the verse again. He died with Christ.

When we ask Jesus Christ in to our heart, God gives us a new nature. In fact, when the old Scott died, he replaced him with Christ! The Christian life is simply this: the life we live, we live by faith in Jesus (Galatians 2:20). He is our life!

Now imagine if you had the spirit of Babe Ruth in you. Would you dance like a ballerina? No, you would play baseball, right? What if you had the spirit of Celine Dion, what would you do? What about Michael Jordan?

We have the Spirit of Jesus Christ within us!

So why do we focus on the rules? We couldn’t follow them before and we can’t follow them now. Thank God that we are no longer condemned by them! (Romans 8:1) Who’s the only person who can? Jesus Christ who is within us! Our focus isn’t the rules, it is our relationship with Him. It is like a man who is constantly trying to please his wife and children by buying them all of the right things when all they want is a relationship. Christ wants us! Rest in Him (His yoke is easy and His burden light) and He will live the right life through us. When we get out of the way and let Him work through us His desires become our desires.

Now that should give you goose bumps!
